One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass
One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB), also known as mini gastric bypass, is a bariatric procedure that combines a long, narrow stomach pouch with a single intestinal connection. It produces substantial, long-term weight loss and often improves type 2 diabetes and other weight-related conditions. Our bariatric surgeons perform OAGB laparoscopically, with personalized assessment and follow-up.
What Is One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass?
During OAGB, a long, narrow pouch is created from the stomach and joined to a loop of small intestine with a single connection. The smaller pouch limits the amount of food eaten, while part of the small intestine is bypassed, so fewer calories are absorbed. Because only one connection is made, the operation is technically simpler and faster than Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. It is performed laparoscopically, through a few small incisions. Reflux symptoms are assessed carefully before surgery, as OAGB is not the preferred option for every patient.
